Freedom Tower 1 WTC, NY
This project truly reinforced our founder’s passion for this industry, as he was one of so many that lost a loved one on that fateful day. Michael Lombardo’s step-brother, Robert Tipaldi, was only 25 years old while working as a trader on the 104th floor for Cantor Fitzgerald. Here at Lombardo, we remember Robert and all of those lost in the tragedy of 9/11. We are forever grateful for the emergency and volunteer responders who gave their everything to this wonderful city on that day and the many weeks and months that followed.
LPE established a partnership with Cox Gomyl, an international leader in façade access solutions, to replace an existing window washing system that was deemed a danger to the public.
Our team provided support in developing and planning the assembly for a series of one-of-a-kind window washing rigs mounted to the awe-inspiring rooftop of the Freedom Tower. First, a rigorous rigging plan was needed in order to get all components of the temporary and permanent equipment to the roof. Next came our own custom cantilevered trolley design which would be used to assemble and eventually dismantle Cox Gomyl’s temporary rolling hoist systems. Finally, we prepared the design and installation sequence of the new permanent building maintenance units which will serve to keep this symbol of our nation’s principles shining for years to come.
